About Us

1999 was the start of an event that has continued to grow and gain recognition every year. Professional angler, Terry Seagraves had a vision that would combine bass fishing with the fight against cancer. He recognized that this dreadful disease has touched everyone and wanted to do his part to stop the progression. Through his contacts, friends and the Kissimmee, Florida community, a board of volunteers was established and plans for the first Angling Against Cancer event was begun.

At fishing tournaments around the country Terry began promoting the event and asking his professional bass fishing buddies if they would like to help out in the cause. Their response has been overwhelming. Bass fishing legends, current and future champions have all rallied to make this more than just another event. They have made it an experience that celebrates life.

Each year the Saturday night banquet and silent auction draws hundreds of people and raises thousands of dollars for cancer research. A first class meal is presented along with drinks and entertainment. The silent auction throughout the evening is a huge success and continues to grow in popularity and items. Those items range from fishing poles to overnight stays at the best hotels to diamonds with all the proceeds going toward cancer research.

The evening reaches its zenith with the pairing of the professional anglers and the amateurs. The amateurs have donated money to have a table of eight for the banquet and the opportunity for one of their party to go fishing the next day with a professional angler on Lake Toho. Each of the anglers has donated his time to be a part of the pro/am fishing tournament on Sunday morning and ensures the amateurs have the time of their lives.

This year, the 8th Annual Angling Against Cancer Banquet and silent auction, will be held at Signatures' airport hanger in Kissimmee, Florida. Decked out with a Wild West theme, it promises to be the best one yet. Make plans to be a part of the Angling Against Cancer banquet October 27, 2007. You will be glad you did.
